TAMIL actor Kamal Hasan’s blockbuster Dasavathram, which portrays him in 10 roles (avatars), is showing to a packed house in 60 cinemas nationwide.

The title of the movie, Dasavatharam, which means the 10 reincarnations of Lord Vishnu, has been aptly used to indicate the 10 roles Kamal has taken in the movie. The roles include a Brahmin priest, dwarf, scientist, fighter, tourist guide, old woman, beggar, George Bush, a Punjabi singer and a black man.

The movie was shot in locations in India, Malaysia and the United States. Malaysia’s national carrier, Malaysia Airlines, is featured extensively in the movie.

Hindi actress Mallika Sherawat dons an altogether different role as a sexy dancer and CIA agent in this movie.

The movie was a hit from day one at the premier opening attended by Public Accounts Committee chairman Datuk Seri Azmi Khalid and his television celebrity wife Datin Seri Normala Shamsuddin and other dignitaries.

Soon after the movie Azmi said: “This is a super movie and it can be viewed by all races as it has subtitles in Bahasa Malaysia and English.

“It is difficult to identify Kamal as he plays 10 roles as hero and villain in the movie.

“I am impressed with the way the movie has been shot using the latest technology,” he added.

An Australian expert in camerawork was the adviser on scene and handled the camera in dramatic scenes.

The movie will soon be dubbed in Telugu, Hindi and French.

This is the first time leading South Indian actress Asin is playing a dual role.

Lotus Five Star AV distributes Dasavatharam, and RHB Banking Group is the main sponsor in making the mega hit movie a success in the country.

The Lotus Five Star AV has been entertaining the Malaysian public by distributing Tamil, Hindi, Malay and English movies for the past 35 years and is the copyright owner of more than 95% of Tamil movies released in Malaysia.
