It was a grand affair as Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and his wife Puan Sri Nooraini Abdul Rahman attended a Deepavali open house hosted by the Lotus Group in Petaling Jaya.
Welcoming the couple at their home in Jalan Pantai were Lotus founder and chief executive Datuk R. Doraisingam and wife Datin Gomathy.
Despite the evening drizzle, the spacious residence was packed with well-wishers.
The special guests later joined the family in cutting a cake to commemorate the occasion.
Besides relatives and friends, the crowd was also made up of corporate leaders, businessmen and community leaders.
Many in the crowd took wefies with Muhyiddin and Nooraini, who obliged the requests and exchanged pleasantries with them.
Doraisingam was grateful that the couple graced his open house despite the minister’s hectic schedule.
“The minister is very much a people’s man and there are no formalities with him at all,” he added.
