Personal Care Assistant / Caregiver

Overall Job Purpose
The ideal person is to be responsible for providing evidence based personal care for residents in accordance with the care plan developed in collaboration with the resident, their medical officer and other members of the health care team. Most importantly the incumbent must have CARING & PASSION to work at Lotus Care.
Work alongside with and support the team to ensure that the care is delivered with a team member’s scope of practice, is evidence based and is safe and high quality in line with policies and protocols.

Specific Responsibilities
• Ensure safe and quality care is provided to all residents, ensuring residents satisfaction
• Assist residents with personal hygiene including shower or bed baths, oral care, hair and skin care
• Able to evaluate and assist residents with their limitation of daily chores
• Provide physical assistance—such as help getting in and out of bed or walking with a walker—to clients when required
• Able to assist residents with the daily exercises as instructed by the appropriate healthcare professional
• Record and report changes in the residents physical condition, behavior and appearance to the supervisor
• Able to evaluate and assist residents with their limitation of daily chores
• Able to assist residents with the daily exercises as instructed by the appropriate healthcare professional
• Record and report changes in the residents’ physical condition, behaviour and appearance to the supervisor
• Assist with daily monitoring of vital signs for residents
• Assist with the administrating of medications
• Assist with meal preparation and feeding, when required
• Assist with the assessment of the emotional and physical status of the resident
• Ensure to render the passover form from Morning shift to Evening shift and vice versa
• Assist with the stock count of the consumables/equipment and the F&B stock
• Assist in maintaining the residents laundry, by washing, drying and folding their clothes and placing it in their respective rooms.
• Assist in maintaining the cleanliness by carrying out housekeeping services and maintenance
• Able to multi-task and carry out other adhoc duties as directed by the Management
• To support quality improvement activities to minimize and eliminate risk by adhering and practicing within the accreditation standards that is safety , safe and service
• Report of emerging risks/near miss, incidents, accidents, injuries and work related illness , related to residents
• Promoting residents’ care and rights in relation to safety, privacy and confidentiality
• To provide and deliver excellent resident services to all internal and external residents while delivering holistic care and knowledgeable care
• Effectively help to resolve patient complaint by reporting to the superior
• Contribute and participate in service standards to improve work processes as required
• Adhere and practice within the PDPA
• All gifts by residents must be declined/ declared
• Promptly report any loss/damage/faulty items
• Completion of documentation and data entry
• Respond to any concerns raised to your attention immediately and resolve
• Assumes join responsibility with immediate superior for training and professional development
• Attending a variety of training sessions (internal & external) provided within the scope of work to achieve desired knowledge to carry daily assigned responsibilities
• Complete performance appraisal within the stipulated time
• Effective handling of related stakeholder expectations in accordance to organizational objectives and standards.
• Escalate unresolved matters with appropriate documentation to mitigate risk exposure
• Effective collaboration and liaison on related matters for desired and amicable outcomes
• Assist in the implementation of the relevant business continuity initiatives that include business improvement processes, change management and innovation programs
• Perform relevant ad-hoc assignments as assigned to support business continuity
• Presentable Appearance – Grooming
( Nails need to be trimmed in order not to scratch the residents)

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
• Substantial previous experience in a similar role
• Demonstrated ability to meet the care needs of a resident group with complex needs, preferably in working with people who have experienced homelessness and/or disadvantage
• Sound understanding of Standards and Guidelines for Residential Aged Care services
• Patience, compassion and sensitivity to the rights of an individual
• Demonstrated understanding of confidentiality and professional boundaries
• Ability to work effectively with others and in teams
• Ability to solve problems
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Computer literacy and previous experience with a resident management system
• Multitasks and work extra hours, depending on situation needs
• Good communication skills to effectively liaise with doctors and the healthcare team and external customers

• Memorization – to remember information such as resident names,words, numbers, pictures, and procedures

• Problem Sensitivity – to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem
• Inductive Reasoning – to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions

Working Hours : 48 hours per week
Salary : RM 1,800 ( 12 hours per shift )
